For my project, I have decided to design a music hub with a venue underneath. I wanted to do this because I have a big passion for music and feel like there aren't enough places for smaller bands to play in the area. 

In preparation to this project I looked at different venues in and around Greater Manchester (where my hub will be based) and had a look at different buildings architecture and how they were designed for their purposes. For this I wanted to mix a chill hang out spot like a coffee shop, and a venue together, I looked at these different places and combined them to make my own thing. A coffee shop I looked at was Wax and Beans in bury, this is because they have a relaxed vibe whilst also being music based, they have vinyls around to purchase in the store as well as music playing whilst you enjoy a hot drink/ pastry. One of the music venues I looked at was The Rebellion in Manchester, I have seen bands perform here and love the whole vibe of the place. The capacity is about 520 people, It is a one room venue, with toilets and a bar at the back, there's also a small balcony you can go up to. 

In the "chill" part of my place, there will be a range of things to do e.g. chairs to sit in and chat, a workspace and some instruments around if people wish to play. The bigger instruments e.g. drums will be on the stage underneath however will be open to play regardless of a performance. I think music should be accessible to everyone, this will give people not only a place to play, but also the opportunity to meet friends.
